ABOUT US
MISSION

MTWorks' mission is to birth new plays inspired by playwrights and regions outside of New York, that question the boundaries of our society, humanity, and individuality.

To accomplish our goal, we-
  • Produce new plays that tell stories set outside of New York City, with particular interest in plays not set in the Northeast.
  • Foster the development of emerging playwrights through our National NewBorn Festival.
  • Cultivate the individuality and strength of emerging artists through the establishment of our own repertory company.

What does "MTWorks" stand for? "Maieutic Theatre Works" is taken from the Socratic method of teaching called "maieutics".  It also comes from the greek word "Maieutikos": to act as a midwife.
